OUT OF THE BOX

Out of The Box was a two week workshop in which The Projects worked in collaboration with a group of local young people to produce a series of light boxes for the Whittlesea Council and The Edge Youth Centre.

The project included a visit to a workshop where the group were able to see how the boxes are cut out using a CNC machine. Other days involved art making workshops and trips around the local area to places of significane for the group. From this, the individuals produced a series of artworks and videos that responded to ideas of place and identity.

The light boxes were designed in a DIY manner - MDF and Plywood snapped together with acrylic and low voltage LED lights to produce simple glowing boxes. The boxes have been installed as a permanent gallery space that provides a space for interchanging exhibits.
